What a good looking couple! I was honoured to be commissioned to paint a Paris scene by Evan for his lovely girlfriend Emily's birthday present this April. I had worked on it for a few months before hand and couldn't post pictures so I am happy to post a few, now that I can do so without ruining any surprises:) Evan had to ship it across seas to Emily in far off (and hot!!) Australia where she lives, so it had to be completed early. The two met on a tour of Europe, during which they got to visit the city of love as part of their experience. Those lucky ducks! Thanks to everyone who helped me with advice, moral support, and positive reinforcement. This was a bit of a challenge as I haven't been to Paris before and I didn't want to just paint the Eiffel Tower, though I HAD to include it off in the distance. It was also a challenge because I actually had to spend time on detail when usually I am an impatient artist who likes to work a bit more abstractly. Also, I wanted Evan and Emmy to be happy with the result. What a good challenge, though! I edited a photo of the painting in Photoshop so I could see it in black and white, and I like the result. I'm not sure which I like better now, since the blue is sort of monochromatic as it is. Either way, it was a fun project! Happy Birthday Emmy!
